What Is Event Generator Hire?
Our generator hire provides an independent power source for inflatable events where mains electricity is unavailable, too far away, or unsuitable for the number of inflatables being hired. This is one of the most common add-ons for outdoor events on school fields, sports grounds, showgrounds, wedding venues, private land, and community spaces.
This unit offers 6.5KVA maximum power and 5.20KW continuous power. It is designed to support inflatable setups where direct mains access is not possible or not suitable.
When Do I Need Generator Hire?
Generator hire is usually needed when:
- Your inflatable setup area is more than 40 metres from the nearest suitable UK mains power source
- Your event is taking place on a field, sports ground, outdoor venue, or open event space
- There are not enough plug sockets available for the inflatables booked
- The inflatables are spread across a site and cannot be powered safely from one mains location
- The venue does not allow cable runs across access routes, doors, or public walkways
- The venue’s electrical setup is not suitable for the inflatables being hired
If the inflatables are within 40 metres of suitable mains power and the correct number of sockets are available, you may not need a generator. If not, generator hire is usually the correct solution.
How Far Can Inflatables Be From Mains Power?
As a general rule, our inflatable cables can safely run up to 40 metres from a suitable UK mains power source. If your setup is further than that, generator hire will normally be required.
This is one of the most common issues customers overlook when booking inflatables for fields, outdoor venues, large gardens, and sports grounds. The inflatables may look close enough to a building, but once the real cable route is measured, they are often too far away.
What Can This Generator Power?
As a general guide, this generator is commonly used for:
- Up to 3 x 1.5HP blowers
- Up to 2 x 2HP blowers, or 1 x 2HP blowers plus 1 x 1.5HP blower
- Up to 1 x 3HP blower plus 1 x 1.5HP blower
No more than 4.5HP of blower power should be run at one time on this setup. Larger 2HP and 3HP blowers reduce the total number of blowers the generator can safely support.
Final generator requirements will always depend on the exact inflatables booked. That is why we recommend speaking to our team if you are hiring multiple inflatables and are unsure what power package is needed.
Do I Need A Generator Or An Independent Blower?
This is one of the most common points of confusion, so here is the simple version:
Choose Event Generator Hire if:
- You are hiring more than one inflatable and there is no suitable mains power nearby
- You are setting up on a field, sports ground, outdoor venue, or open event space
- You need an independent power supply for a wider event setup
- You are hiring a larger inflatable or multi-section inflatable that requires more than one blower
Choose Independent Blower Hire if:
- You are only running one smaller compatible inflatable with one blower
- You want to power a single inflatable independently where mains power is not available
In simple terms, an independent blower is usually for one smaller compatible inflatable with one blower only. If your booking includes multiple inflatables or a large inflatable made up of multiple sections, you will usually require generator hire.
For example, our 75ft Assault Course may look like one inflatable product on the website, but it is actually made up of three separate 25ft sections, each running its own blower. That means an independent blower is not suitable for this type of setup, and generator hire is required where suitable mains power is not available.
If you are hiring a larger inflatable like this, it is always worth checking if we already offer it as a generator-included package. In some cases, we have already paired the inflatable with the correct independent power setup and passed on a better-value package price, helping you avoid confusion and book the right option faster.

This generator hire is supplied and set up by our team as part of your inflatable event booking. It is not offered as a separate stand-alone generator hire service for non-Premium Inflatables equipment.
Fuel, Runtime & Longer Events
This hire comes with one full tank of fuel, which gives an estimated runtime of around 4 hours. For longer events, the generator should be checked and topped up after around 2.5 hours to keep things running smoothly.
If your event runs for longer than 4 hours, we can supply additional fuel. As of March 2026, 20 litres of extra fuel is £40.
If Premium Inflatables staff or supervisors are not staying on site during the event, your team will need to provide a responsible adult or event representative who is present when we set up. We will show them how to refuel the generator safely if extra fuel has been booked for longer events.
Any remaining fuel, storage fuel cans, funnels, and related equipment remain the property of Premium Inflatables. Missing items will be chargeable.
Important Generator Safety Information
- The generator itself must not be moved once positioned by our team
- The fuel can and funnel may only be handled for refuelling where this has been demonstrated by our team
- Clients must not attempt to reposition the generator during the hire
- Our team will place the generator in the most suitable location during setup
- Safety fencing / barriers and a fire extinguisher are included free with the hire
If you have booked a longer event and need to refuel during the hire, your nominated team member must be on site when we set up so we can explain the process clearly.
